HBO Max announces Chelsea Handler’s first stand-up special in 6 years

Previously, it was announced that HBO Max would be getting into the stand-up game with new specials from the likes of Tracy Morgan, John Early, Rose Matafeo, Ahir Shah, and more yo be announced.

Well now the forthcoming streaming network can add another new special to the list with Chelsea Handler’s first special in 6 years. In the special, her first since 2014’s Uganda Be Kidding Me on Netflix, she talks about her family, friends, and how she discovered when she finally went to therapy why everybody annoys her.

“No one makes me laugh like Chelsea and we are thrilled to partner with her on this long awaited return to standup,” Suzanna Makkos, executive vice president of original comedy for HBO Max, said in a statement. “We feel lucky to be able to share with our audience her evolution and personal growth that she relays so beautifully in this hour special.’

“I didn’t want to return to stand-up until I had something important to say. I do now” said Handler. “I’m absolutely delighted to be doing this with HBO Max and always excited to be reunited with Bob Greenblatt. One of the only executives I can never have sex with.”

No word on when the special is slated to hit HBO Max, but we figure it’ll probably be sometime next
