According to The Spun, new ESPN anchor Max McGee went from talking fries to talking sports, his inspiring story now captivating the world.

Front Office Sports recently took to social media to share the inspiring story of new ESPN anchor Max McGee, whose journey to the heights of SportsCenter was one for the ages.

“Five years ago, Max McGee was working as a server at the Capital Grille and Famous Dave’s after leaving college. After 250 applications, he landed his first TV job. In October, he got an ESPN audition through LinkedIn. McGee just finished his first week with SportsCenter,” FOS wrote.

Since then, the tweet has been shared more than 10,000 times and garnered over 120,000 likes, many commenting about just how inspiring it was.

The 31-year-old took to social media to share the announcement that he was joining ESPN as a SportsCenter anchor. He shared his journey to the top and credited his family with making his dreams come true.

McGee is a Cherry Hill, New Jersey native who earned his degree from Temple University. After graduation, he took several gigs in the food service and sports media industries, doing whatever he could to advance his career while making a living to support himself. During that time, he served as a reporter for NBC affiliate WMBF-TV in South Carolina and KPLC-TV in Louisiana where he launched his career as an on-air reporter and producer. After that, he spent three years as a news and sports anchor for Baltimore CBS affiliate4 WJZ-TV, covering professional sports teams, University of Maryland sports and breaking news. A random LinkedIn ESPN audition would eventually give him his big break.
