Artist Gemellus Talks New Single, Upcoming Plans & Growing Up In New Orleans

New Orleans artist Gemellus is on fire right now. Following the release of his “Rather Knot$” single featuring Sauce Walka, he is gearing up to have a very success 2021. With the backing of rappers such as Sauce Walka, he is building up his credibility in the music industry as a rising rap sensation. His southern upbringing and passion for creating music has turned him into an impressive emcee. I had the pleasure of catching up with Gemellus for a short interview to discuss his new releases, growing up in New Orleans and upcoming plans for the 2021 season.

Check it out below.

Tell me a little bit about where you’re from?

I’m from New Orleans, LA; a music driven city. Hollygrove and Pigeon Town to be more exact.  I’ve been performing and learning music since a young age. I took part in African drumming, was very attached to the culture. Influenced by community and family values, my kids and loved ones motivate me to keep going. One of the reasons why I love what I do. My family revolves around music, my grandmother has a group called Bamboula 2000. I grew up picking up on the consistency and work ethic.

Tell me about the single or video we are going to be working on?

I just dropped a single with Sauce Walka, titled ‘Rather Knot$” inspired from daily life. Produced by one of my favorite beatmakers E9 (@e9__X) of New Orleans.

Who directed the video?

Spreading the message of being focused more or less. Leaving lust behind in order to get the bag. The video was shot by OG Visions (@og_visions) of Houston, I pretty much direct and create the treatment for all my videos.

What album is this song on?

This song is going to be featured on my album “Case Closed ”,  that’s dropping in the first quarter of 2021.

What are your plans for the next few months?

My plans for the next few months are to stay consistent and keep my fans happy and give them reasons to influence others to gravitate towards the movement. I have 10+ videos being worked on and waiting to drop. I will be releasing a portfolio of work soon. A few albums worth of material .

Have you ever been on radio? If so what stations and when?

No, I actually haven’t been on the radio. Would like to have the opportunity to.

What shows or touring do you have planned?

I currently do not have any shows or tours set up. Was in the midst of planning and executing to gain exposure when Corona came around.

Is there anything else that you want to tell the fans?

I want my existing and potential fans to know I’m bringing value back to rap. My music is straightforward. Steering away from “gangsta rap” to bring back morals and ethics to the industry and daily agenda of it. I only broadcast what I would teach my own. there isn’t enough of that these days.

What are your goals for this campaign?
My goals for the campaign is to gain exposure and reach a new audience while making a foundation to build on.
Who do you want to target your new music to?
I want to target all the major blog sites in order to reach the masses in an organic way.
